A holiday in the Dolomites South Tyrol is a unique experience

Both in winter and in summer the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites is awaiting you with its fascinating landscapes and unique flora and fauna

The Dolomites are mountains of exceptional beauty and are geologically unique. They are also a genuine paradise for nature lovers, hikers, mountain climbers, sports buffs and aesthetes. They provide what is still a protected natural environment for many wild animals and a large variety of rare flowers and plants.
On 26 June 2009 UNESCO declared the Dolomites a World Nature Heritage Site, and above all because of their geological origins: 250 million years ago they formed an immense coral reef in the ancient sea of Tethys. Today, the jagged peaks of the "Pale Mountains" tower over green meadows and woods. The Dolomites are named after the French geologist Déodat de Dolomieu, the first to recognise that the petrified coral reef was geologically unique and different from the rest of the Alps.
